This test identifies platelet surface glycoprotein or receptor deficiencies. If platelet structural abnormality testing is needed, consider PTEM / Platelet Transmission Electron Microscopic Study, Whole Blood.



Shipping Instructions


Specimen must be shipped ambient and arrive within 4 days of collection.

 

Ship specimen overnight in an Ambient Shipping Box-Critical Specimens Only (T668) following the instructions in the mailer.

Platelet Esoteric Testing Patient Information is required. Testing may proceed without this information, however, the information aids in providing a more thorough interpretation. Ordering providers are strongly encouraged to fill out the form and send with the specimen.

Supplies: Ambient Shipping Box-Critical Specimens Only (T668)

Collection Container/Tube: ACD solution A or B

Specimen Volume: 6 mL

Pediatric Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions: Send whole blood specimen in original tube. Do not aliquot.
