The American Diabetes Association (ADA) considers a hemoglobin of ≥ 6.5% as being consistent with a diagnosis of diabetes. Therapeutic goals for diabetic glycemic control in adults is a hemoglobin A1c of 8.0%, the ADA suggests reevaluation of the treatment regimen. The testing method used is NGSP certified and is standardized to the Diabetes Control and Complication Trial (DCCT) reference method.
